Real Madrid midfielders Mesut Ozil and Xavi Alonso have spoken about their manager, Jose Mourinho, in glowing terms and Mourinho has been talking about his current Real Madrid side during the international break.
The Special One has taken the chance offered by the international games to return to his home country of Portugal. He gave an interview to Real Madrid TV in which he stated again his disappointment at the poor start of the season that Madrid made in La Liga which has put them eight points behind Barcelona.
He singled out the comeback against Manchester City in the Champions League as his high point, because of the determination and quality of the players and because the Bernabeu crowd inspired them even when they went behind.
“This team has shown that when it is psychologically right it is very strong. Now we must have some consistency.”
German international Ozil is rumoured to have had a falling out with Mourinho but he says that Mourinho is a great manager who gets the best out of him. Stating that his goal was to play for Mourinho, now he is doing he gets alot of confidence from his manager and his Madrid team mates.
He admits that Mourinho is never satisfied, but is always trying to get a little bit more out of him and all the players. All the players want to win and they feel that Mourinho is the best man to achieve this, so they work hard for him.
Xabi Alonso has told reporters that there will be a massive void to fill when Mourinho leaves the club. He also responded to the suggestion from some Barcelona players that History will not look fondly on the Portuguese manager.
“Mourinho has already made history.”
