Ancelotti decides that Suarez is the man for Real Madrid

Carlo Ancelotti will begin pre-season training with his Real Madrid players next Monday, although not all of them are available yet because of international duties that some have had this summer. It appears that the approaching training schedule has encouraged the new manager to settle the remaining transfer business, and the main thrust of that seems to be to sign Luis Suarez as Madrid’s new striker.

The Uruguayan striker played in the Confederations cup, so will not be reporting for training even if he does sign, which now looks increasingly likely. Perhaps the interest from Arsenal and Chelsea has spurred on Ancelotti to move for Suarez, because Madrid are preparing to offer around £40 million for the 26-year old. Arsenal are believed to have offered £30 million, which is not enough for Liverpool, who would also prefer to sell him outside of England if they must.

Suarez himself has done little to hide the fact that he would love to play at the Santiago Bernabeu, partly because of his problems with the English media and partly because he feels, quite rightly, that his talents should be on the biggest stage, the Champions League. Liverpool have failed to challenge for a place among Europe’s elite clubs in the three seasons Suarez has been at the club and they are showing no real signs of improvement, despite the striker’s goal scoring ability.

I think that Florentino Perez was wary about targetting Suarez to start with because of his reputation and the uneasy situation the club was put in by Jose Mourinho. The club’s reputation is turning around already, so the signing of Suarez can now go ahead, and I think he will be a real star for Real Madrid, because I’m sure that Liverpool will agree to the deal.
