Ancelotti to reunite Rooney with Ronaldo at Real Madrid

Posted on May 26, 2013 by admin

When Real Madrid paid around £80 million for Cristiano Ronaldo back in 2009, it split up a fantastic playing partnership between the Portuguese star and his Manchester United team mate Wayne Rooney. They seemed to have an inherent understanding, with Rooney being one of the few players who can see the same things as Ronaldo does on the pitch. He also has the ability to make those things happen.

The England international is unsettled at Old Trafford, apparently, and there are a number of clubs hoping to take advantage, including Chelsea, Man City and PSG. United and their new manager David Moyes do not want to lose him, but if they cannot persuade Rooney to extend his current contract, finances may force them to sell.

Moyes will certainly not want to strengthen his Premier League rivals, so PSG were looking like the favourites to sign him. Until, that is, Carlo Ancelotti and Real Madrid entered the fray. It is only a matter of time before the Italian is announced as the new man in charge at the Bernabeu, but he is already drawing up his list of transfer targets.

The decision of Neymar to join Barcelona instead of Madrid has come as a bit of a blow, so Florentino Perez is even more determined to get his other targets and one of them is Rooney. The deal would cost around £25 million and could really help to persuade Ronaldo to extend his current deal with the club and make an even more fearsome attacking line up.
