Bale Blast Off as Real Madrid run riot against Sevilla

Carlo Ancelotti may have a few things to say to his Real Madrid defenders this morning, but that could be a bit churlish and he will probably be in too good a move to bother. Apart from letting in three goals against Sevilla at the Bernabeu last night, everything went well for the Madrid boss.

Fair play to the visitors, they gave it a good go and played well, showing great resilience to come back from being three down after half an hour with two goals in as many minutes. But Madrid were on fire, inspired by Gareth Bale, who completed the whole 90 minutes on his full home debut. Playing on the right, which Ancelotti has declared will be his position, the Welshman tormented Sevilla with power, pace and trickery.

His Madrid team mates seemed happy to give him the ball and let him express himself and they were amply rewarded as he scored the first two goals and set up two more. He was outscore by Ronaldo, who bagged another hat-trick, but we are used to that and so the plaudits will go to Bale. The Bernabeu crowd, and Ronaldo himself, sent a message to FIFA and Sepp Blatter with many rousing ovations and a military salute from the striker.

The good news continued with Benzema scoring a well taken double and looking like he is back in form. Isco did some great stuff as well, and the attacking side of the team is looking fantastic. The game also saw the return of Xabi Alonso for the last 10 minutes or so, so everything looks set for a real push in La Liga. Six points behind Barcelona is not a big problem, but we can’t afford to let it get any bigger.
