The latest version of the long running battle between Real Madrid and our La Liga rivals from Catalan will be foremost in the minds of Madrid fans after the news reported by Sky Sports about the injury to Gareth Bale. But the El Clasico match against Barcelona in 10 days is not the only big match coming up, making the Welshman’s absence the worst possible timing.
JUst four days after that clash with Barca, Zinedine Zidane and Los Blancos face Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and we need to win that game against the Bundesliga club to win the UCL group. It was going to be tough enough to face the in form Germans straight after a Clasico but without Bale the task is a lot harder as he has been our best player so far this season.
The chances of him making either game are pretty slim as the news is that Bale has damaged a tendon in his ankle, although there is still some hope. To be realistic, however, I think we have to prepare for the worst and hope that this untimely injury does not damage our chances in both the Clasico and the Champions League.
