Bale IS going to sign for Real Madrid after Tottenham accept defeat

Daniel Levy has had to finally accept defeat in his attempt to stop Real Madrid from signing their best player, the Welsh international Gareth Bale. It has been coming, especially after Bale returned from the recent pre-season games in Asia without playing and then took his parents with him to a meeting with the Tottenham chairman. They made it clear to Levy that they expected him to honour his promise to let Bale leave if they were not in the Champions League this season.

Although Manchester United were interested, Bale apparently had his heart set on playing at the Santiago Bernabeu. Tottenham are not doing too badly out of the deal, according to AS. Florentino Perez has not been handling the negotiations in person, but he has been aware of every move and has apparently authorised the club to smash the world transfer record again, with the fee agreed reported to be 120 million euros.

The rumours that Fabio Coentrao or Angel Di Maria were to be included in the deal are still unconfirmed, although the paper reports that Ancelotti does not want to lose either player from his squad. All that is left to do, apparently, is for Tottenham to make an official announcement. That may not happen for a few days, though, as they try to complete the signings of the players they want to boost their challenge in the absence of Bale.
