Bale out with injury but Real Madrid confident of beating Copenhagen

Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping that this week’s training ground meeting of Real Madrid players will have done it’s job. The crisis meeting was intended to foster more unity in the group and get all the players working hard and pulling in the right direction, to avoid a repeat of last season’s trophy-less disappointment.

Gareth Bale’s smooth introduction and settling in to the Madrid team has been disrupted again, which is hugely frustrating for Ancelotti, the fans but mostly the p[layer himself. The medical staff have revealed that the Welshman has got a muscle spasm in his left thigh, which is good news in one way because the club feared he may have suffered much worse damage. He definitely cannot play tonight, but is a possibility for the weekend game against Levante.

But this is Real Madrid, and we have the likes of Ronaldo, Isco, Di Maria, Benzema, Modric and more. We are at home and with all due respect, Copenhagen are not the toughest of opposition, so Ancelotti and the players are right to be confident of a second win in Europe this season.

Unlike Mourinho, Ancelotti is not putting pressure on his players, but taking it on himself and insisting they are very close to clicking into top gear. Perhaps this is why the players are also pulling together as a team and forgetting their differences.
