Bale’s agent offers Real Madrid some transfer encouragement

After losing out on a couple of transfer targets already this summer, Real Madrid and the current president Florentino Perez is more determined than ever to make sure that Gareth Bale will be playing his home games at the Bernabeu next season. That is easier said than done, however, as Tottenham Hotspur are desperate to keep him, while the chairman Daniel Levy is a tough negotiator who Madrid have struggled with before.

Perez finally managed to prise Luka Modric from the English Premier League club last summer, but we had to pay through the nose. That transfer led to the two clubs signing some sort of agreement to try to help each other where possible, but I don’t think that Levy had in mind the sale of his best players. Unfortunately for him, Tottenham threw away a seven point lead over Arsenal in the last 10 league games, missing out on the last Champions League spot by just one point.

Bale was brilliant for them and still has three years left on his contract. There have been stories in the press that Bale was about to sign a lucrative new deal with them, but his agent has poured cold water on that particular story, also suggesting that Bale might be keen on the move to Spain.

“If Florentino is interested in Gareth Bale, then that would be an honour and we would listen, but his contract is with Tottenham,” said Johnathan Barnett.

On a new deal with Tottenham he revealed, “No we have not talked to anybody.

“I do not know if there has been another offer. What I do know is that the player has three years left on his contract.”

Hopefully, Bale is well aware of the strong interest from Madrid and will indicate to his Tottenham bosses that he wants a transfer. They will not want to keep him against his will, probably, and Madrid are prepared to reward them very well for the 23-year old who some football experts think may actually turn out to be better than Cristiano Ronaldo. It will certainly help to get over the disappointmeny of missing out on Neymar and Falcao.
