Benzema’s reaction to Higuain and Ancelotti boost for Real Madrid

Karim Benzema has cut a frustrated figure at Real Madrid recently. The French international striker was far from his best last season, although he still scored 20 goals in all competitions and provided 20 assists. His mannerisms and fitness when he returned for pre-season training was not very encouraging either, but that all seems to have changed now.

The 25-year old striker is now looking happy and sharp all of a sudden. He is obviously reacting well to the new manager Carlo Ancelotti, and he scored a good goal to win the friendly against PSG on Saturday. The squad is now in America to continue preparations for La Liga, and Benzema seems ready to prove that the club will not miss Ginzalo Higuain who signed for Rafa Benitez at Napoli at the weekend.

Benzema said, “Ancelotti changed tactics and that’s good for the team. We have a good coach who is close to us.

“Slowly we are getting stronger, but we are still in pre-season. Now we are at a difficult stage because we are mixing games with hard training sessions, but we are gradually taking off.”

Real Madrid and Ancelotti are counting on a good season from Benzema, because he is pivotal to the system. If the Frenchman is injured or not playing well, the back-ups are Alvaro Morata and Jese Rodriguez. The club has high hopes for these two young strikers, but we cannot put all the pressure on to their shoulders. Highlights of the PSG game and Benzema’s winning goal are below.
