Casillas, Ozil and Di Maria must decide on Real Madrid futures

In just over five day’s time, the summer transfer window will close and Real Madrid will not be able to buy or sell any more players until the winter window opens in January. The main source of media speculation around the club is, of course, the ongoing Gareth Bale situation, but there are three players who could be on the brink of leaving the club, and they do not have long to decide what to do.

The toughest decision must surely be that of Iker Casillas. The 32-year old keeper and club captain is Real Madrid through and through, but he must be wondering if he is set to be warming the bench again this season if he decides to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu. It is now nearly two thirds of a year since he played in a competitive game for Madrid and despite Del Bosque’s assurances, Casillas must be worried about his place in the Spain national side. He must have been delighted to see the back of Mourinho and thought he would get his place back, but it seems to be going the same way under Ancelotti.

The transfer of Bale is the reason why Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria are also considering their future careers with Madrid. Both players have good reasons to fear for their playing opportunities if the Welshman arrives. There is no shortage of clubs interested in the pair. Arsenal are believed to be the favourites for Di Maria if he leaves, while the Premier League champions Manchester United are reported to be ready with around £40 million for Ozil if he is to leave.

Apparently Ancelotti is not trying to push either player out the door, but he will sell them if they want to go. So it is make your mind up time, lads.
