Fans flock to Real Madrid but they won’t see Ronaldo in Copa final 0

Posted on April 16, 2014 by admin

So here we are at another El Clasico contest between Real Madrid and Barcelona to decide who lifts the Copa Del Rey in 2014. After their recent problems, this is probably more important to the Catalan club because it looks like their best chance of getting their hands on a trophy this season, but Carlo Ancelotti and his players are determined to stop that happening.

The bad news for Real Madrid is that our best player, Cristiano Ronaldo, has not recovered from the injury he picked up a couple of weeks ago against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League first leg. The second leg showed just how much Madrid can struggle without the Portuguese superstar, although this weekend’s La Liga win showed that we have plenty of quality throughout the side.

Real Madrid players reveal much happier life under Ancelotti 0

It remains to be seen, of course, if Real Madrid will win any trophies in their first season under Carlo Ancelotti, but it certainly seems like a much happier and more relaxed club. After the strain, tension and discord that characterised the reign of Jose Mourinho, the fans, players and media are all mightily relieved about that.

Mourinho seems to have embarked on another spell of rabble rousing back in England, getting into spiteful arguments with rival managers, players, officials and anyone who crosses his path, but Ancelotti is almost the opposite. A lot of players liked Mourinho because he was so determined to win, but it came at a price.

Real Madrid ready for Atletico backlash in Copa Del Rey 0

Posted on February 11, 2014 by admin

Real Madrid are in a great position in the Copa Del Rey. They are 3-0 up from the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu and that would usually be enough to think that a place in the final was just a formality, but that is not the case tonight.

Because the opponents are Atletico Madrid and Ancelotti and his players are expecting a tough night. Not only are Atletico fierce city rivals, but there home crown always makes a trip to the Vicente Calderon a difficult one and they will be especially fired up tonight, as will Diego Simeone and his players.

Real Madrid boss asures fans Bale is NOT injured and WILL face Villareal 0

Posted on February 07, 2014 by admin

There have been some real concerns among Real Madrid fans and some sections of the Spanish media this week. Following the decision of the football authorities to uphold the red card shown to Cristiano Ronaldo last weekend, this weekend’s La Liga clash with Villareal was looking like a tough one.

Gareth Bale has missed the last three games with injury, after suffering a painful kick to his privates, but he should have been back by now and there have been suggestions that the talented Welshman had suffered a recurrence of the calf problem that was dogging him earlier in the season.

Pique and Ancelotti back Real Madrid star over sending off 0

Carlo Ancelotti has spoken to the press today ahead of the Real Madrid vs. Atletico Madrid semi-final first leg of the Copa Del Rey. The Italian manager is sweating on the complaints committee who are due to decide on whether the ban for Cristiano Ronaldo will be repealed and, if not, how long it will be.

It could even be extended, after the Portuguese Ballon D’Or winner was reported by the match referee for an offensive gesture towards the fourth official as he left the pitch. Ronaldo slapped his cheek a couple of times, which seems to be taken as referring to oral sex and players who have been pulled up for this before have been handed down extra bans of up to four games.

Real Madrid could really suffer for Ronaldo red card 0

Posted on February 03, 2014 by admin

I am sure that Real Madrid will be appealing whatever suspension is handed out to Cristiano Ronaldo for his red card yesterday during the frustrating 1-1 draw away to Athletic Bilbao. The punishment of losing the best player in the world was bad enough, ultimately meaning that Madrid missed a great chance to go above great rivals Barcelona in La Liga.

But if Ronaldo is now banned for three games, which he could well be because it was a straight red, it will mean he misses both legs of the Copa Del Rey semi-final against city rivals and new league leaders Atletico Madrid. There is also a tricky looking La Liuga game against 5th placed Villareal to consider.

Real Madrid face Atletico (again) in Copa Del Rey 0

Posted on January 30, 2014 by admin

After Real Madrid won the second leg of their Copa Del Rey fixture against Espanyol on Tuesday, they became the first team to book their place in the semi-finals of the Spanish cup competition. And after last year’s final loss to city rivals Atletico Madrid, Carlo Ancelotti and his team must have been hoping for a favour from Athletic Bilbao.

They almost got it as well. It was looking good at halftime after Aduriz had scored to make the aggregate scores level, but second half goals from Raul Garcia and Diego Costa set up a repeat of last years final. It will be a two-legged affair, with the first one to take place at the Santiago Bernabeu next week and the second leg at the Vicente Calderon the following week.

Real Madrid ready to relent and let Morata leave? 0

Posted on January 17, 2014 by admin

The case of Alvaro Morata and Real Madrid is a curious one and it has taken a few twists in the past year or so. And there could be another one coming soon, with rumours that manager Carlo Ancelotti and the club are ready to siften their stance on the promising young striker and let him leave the Santiago Bernabeu during this January transfer window.

When Jose Mourinho was getting grief from the media and fans alike last season about his failure to use promising youngsters, Morata was just about the only one he seemed to like and the young striker rewarded his faith with two massive goals coming on as a late sub.

Real Madrid to see REAL Ronaldo again after Ballon D’Or win!! 0

Posted on January 14, 2014 by admin

I know it sounds petty to say it, because even when he is not playing at 100 percent he is still Real Madrid’s best player, but Cristiano Ronaldo has just been a little off the ball recently. Just four goals in the last 11 games for Madrid, compared to the 26 he scored in the previous games shows what I mean.

Unlike his usual self, Ronaldo has not been ruthless in front of goal, missing a few chances that would normally guarantee a goal, but I think he has just been a bit distracted by the impending Ballon D’Or awards. It would have been a travesty if he had not won it this year and thankfully he did receive it yesterday, with Messi second and Ribery third. Congratulations CR7, you deserve it!!

Real Madrid rule out Sergio Ramos departure – ever! 1

Posted on October 16, 2013 by admin

Despite a wealth of rumours doing the rounds this week, Real Madrid chief Florentino Perez has announced he has ruled out selling Sergio Ramos in January and it is entirely understandable why the club’s president is so keen to keep the defender firmly where he belongs at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The 27-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League, with big spenders Manchester City keen on signing the Spain international. Although City are 11/5 with Paddy Power to win the league, their boss Manuel Pellegrini has been struggling with injuries in defence and bringing in a utility player like Ramos would significantly boost their options at the back.
