Real Madrid ready to relent and let Morata leave? 0

Posted on January 17, 2014 by admin

The case of Alvaro Morata and Real Madrid is a curious one and it has taken a few twists in the past year or so. And there could be another one coming soon, with rumours that manager Carlo Ancelotti and the club are ready to siften their stance on the promising young striker and let him leave the Santiago Bernabeu during this January transfer window.

When Jose Mourinho was getting grief from the media and fans alike last season about his failure to use promising youngsters, Morata was just about the only one he seemed to like and the young striker rewarded his faith with two massive goals coming on as a late sub.

Watch out Barca – Real Madrid have Ronaldo back with Bale!! 0

After a disappointing and frustrating start to the season for Real Madrid fans, things are really starting to look up, while the biggest rivals Barcelona started well but are starting to show cracks in their veneer, making this season’s race to be champions of Spain shape up to be much close than last year.

We cannot forget about Diego Simeone’s Atletico side either, as they are doing really well and are level on points at the top with Barcelona. But because Madrid play before the other two and are just three points behind, they can go into top spot with a victory by three goals or more away to Osasuna. That would really put some pressure on the wobbling Barcelona who are still without Messi until the new year.

Brilliant Bale helps Real Madrid win Champions League group 0

There may have been some concern among Real Madrid fans yesterday, with Cristiano Ronaldo ruled out of the Champions League game through injury. The opponents, Turkish champions Galatasaray, had improved a lot since Madrid beat then heavily in Istanbul, with Roberto Mancini working his magic, so people expected a tough test.

Those fears were much worse when Sergio Ramos was sent off for denying what the referee deemed to be a scoring opportunity. Although it was a bit soft, Ramos does it too often and must control himself, especially in Europe.

Real Madrid and Ronaldo hoping injury does not ruin chances 0

Cristiano Ronaldo and everyone concerned with Real Madrid must have been rubbing their hands in the last few weeks, but an injury picked up by the Portugal international star could really throw a spanner in the works for both club and player, although hopefully it will only be a short term problem.

Will Real Madrid have to change system with Khedira out? 0

You would think a team club like Real Madrid, with a stellar squad assembled from the world’s best players, would be able to cope with the loss of a player. Apart from Cristiano Ronaldo, who is unique, Madrid should have plenty of options, but there is serious concern among Madrid fans and pundits in Spain that the loss of Sami Khedira could be a real problem.

The German midfielder, who damaged his cruciate ligament in the friendly against Italy on Friday, is thought to be the only player of his kind in the team. There are others who play in the same position, like Alonso, Modric and the new signings Casemiro and Illarramendi, but they are all different.

Real Madrid rocked by 6 month injury to Germany star Khedira 0

It is always a danger during the international break, and it has happened again to Real Madrid. A number of players last season came down with the so-called FIFA virus, including Marcelo and Coentrao at the same time, and it struck again last night.

This time it was the Germany midfielder Sami Khedira who was injured, and it was a bad one. The powerful midfielder lasted just over an hour against Italy in his countries 1-1 draw, and today it has been revealed that he has torn a cruciate ligament in his knee, meaning that Real Madrid will have to do without him for around six months.

Real Madrid face Sociedad with 3 key defenders out!! 0

Posted on November 08, 2013 by admin

With Real Madrid already lying six points behind fierce La Liga rivals Barcelona and five behind city rivals Atletico, it goes without saying that Carlo Ancelotti and his players are walking a fine line. Another early slip up would give the club a huge task to catch up and would put a negative spin on things heading in to the two week international break.

So the news that three key defenders are unavailable this weekend is about as welcome as a fart in a spacesuit. At least tomorrow’s La Liga clash against 7th placed Real Sociedad is at home and the Santiago Bernabeu has been a fortress for a long time, with the only points dropped there this season being the narrow loss to Atletico.

Alonso return from injury will steady Real Madrid ship 0

You can tell just how important Xabi Alonso is to Real Madrid, at least in the eyes of the coach Carlo Ancelotti. Despite only playing around 10 minutes of competitive football since being sidelined with injury last season, at the end of Wednesday’s game against Sevilla, the midfielder will be thrown right in from the start of tomorrow’s game away to Rayo Vallecano.

Ancelotti said, “Xabi will start. I don’t know whether he will play the whole 90 minutes, but he will start.”

Bale and Benzema give Real Madrid selection problems for Clasico 0

I think it is fair to say that Real Madrid fans are still sitting on the fence over the new manager Carlo Ancelotti. Although there were some hardcore Mourinho fans, most people connected with the club were glad to see the back of the Portuguese manager, and were really looking forward to the new era under the Italian.

The problem has been, however, that there has not been a very noticeable change from last season. The results have been better, but they have come with no small amount of luck. The performances have been good at times but inconsistent. Having said that, a win tomorrow in the Nou Camp will see Madrid draw level on points with current La Liga leaders Barcelona, and the Ancelotti era will have really started.

Ronaldo knows two good wins will transform Real Madrid season 0

Posted on October 23, 2013 by admin

Real Madrid are ready for the visit of the Italian champions in the Champions League tonight, but Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that they do have one eye on this weekend’s La Liga game. Not surprising really, when it is the first El Clasico of the season.

The Portuguese superstar knows that a win tonight followed by a win against Barcelona in the Nou Camp on Saturday, will put a completely different slant on the season so far. Los Blancos may have stuttered and been a bit lucky in La Liga so far, but three points in El Clasico will put Madrid level on points with their fierce rivals. With a new manager and new players, as well as all the injury problems suffered by Gareth Bale, that would be seen as a very good start.
