Last season, Real Madrid defied the odds to win the UEFA Champions League in Zinedine Zidane’s first season as head coach of the first team. The Los Blancos legend stepped in after Rafael Benitez was sacked midway through the campaign and showed his worth as he led Madrid to an unprecedented 11th European Cup triumph. But now Real are on the hunt for number 12 – and everybody associated with the club will be quietly confident of defending their title this season…

Despite the fact that Real Madrid fans have had to suffer in recent years as the traditional title of the best team in Spain has been usurped by the Catalan rivals FC Barcelona, especially in the league. Eight of the last 12 La Liga titles have gone to our great rivals and one has been taken by our city rivals Atletico Madrid and that is simply not good enough.

Many players, such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Luka Modric, showed the football world just how good they are with performances and goals which lit the tournament up, with Ronaldo and Pepe reporting back to the Bernabeau with yet another winner’s medal following Portugal’s victory against France at the Stade de France.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a quiet start to Euro 2016, but reminded everyone how clinical he can be with two crucial strikes against Hungary to fire Portugal into the last-16. His Welsh counterpart, Gareth Bale has been smashing in a goal a game so far to keep the pressure on Ronaldo. It could be a case of which team goes deeper into the competition, as to which player has the best chance to claim the golden boot.

Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid side embark on a 2015/16 Champions League final that could propel them into yet another era of footballing dominance not seen since the Frenchman himself was playing for the club.

After the glittering Pep Guardiola years of the late Noughties followed by the ‘MSN resurgence’ which saw them win last year’s Champions League final, Madrid’s rivals, Barcelona, have held the Spanish bragging rights for much of the 21st century.

Just one game to go for Real Madrid this season and it is certainly a big one and hopefully the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid on Saturday ends in the same result as we got two years ago. It would be nice for the nerves of anyone concerned with Los Blancos, however, if this Real Madrid side did not leave it as late as the last one.

But when the dust has settled on this huge European game, Real Madrid thoughts will turn to Euro 2016 and our preparations for next season and the summer tournament could have a significant effect on those preparations, for a number of reasons.

Zidane to keep same Real Madrid XI for Champions League final? 0

As Real Madrid still had a chance of nipping ahead of great rivals Barcelona to win this season’s La Liga title and be crowned champions of Spain, Zinedine Zidane would have had no thoughts of rotating his squad and resting players for the Champions League final, which they are favourites to win with every online Sportsbook.

Only a win would do for Real Madrid last weekend, which we got but unfortunately so did Barca meaning that we fell just short. However, with the boss having no injury problems to concern him, it looks like team that started against Deportivo La Coruna in the final league game is what Zidane sees as his best XI, so will that be the same side that starts the Champions League final against city rivals Atletico Madrid on Saturday?

With Real Madrid already out of the Copa Del Rey this season, Carlo Ancelotti´s chances of a trophy to give the Madrid fans something to celebrate and a real chance of keeping his job as manager. But the two pieces of silverware still available to the Italian coach are looking increasingly at risk as an injury crisis threatens to derail our hopes in the Champions League and La Liga, despite Real being favourites in most bookmakers rankings.
