Cristiano Ronaldo will have mixed feelings at the Luzhniki stadium tomorrow

Posted on February 20, 2012 by admin

The Luzhniki stadium in Moscow was the scene of the Portugese star Ronaldo’s greatest acheivement and of a personal low point he will never forget.

In May 2008, Christiano and his teammates at Manchester United lifted the Champions League trophy after beating Chelsea on penalties in the final. Cristiano himself however missed a penalty and United were on the verge of losing until the Chelsea captain John Terry slipped on the point of striking his penalty, letting Manchester United back into the game.

The Real Madrid number 7 has such a high standard of play that he has never forgiven himself. He has upped his game dramatically since moving to Madrid, having only missed one out of 23 penalties taken in La Liga.

If he plays tomorrow, as he surely will, I doubt he will be worried about stepping up to take a penalty, but his miss of over three years ago may just be on his mind.
