Doubts creep in about Ancelotti and Real Madrid – Too soon?

If it was not for some inspired goalkeeping from Diego Lopez, then Real Madrid would surely have lost to Villareal on Saturday night. Having been lucky to win the first two La Liga games against Real Betis and Granada, the club has dropped it’s first points under Ancelotti, but it is the manner of the performances that is causing concern among some fans and members of the Spanish media.

The Madrid players are not really playing as a team, controlling games and with the quality available to Ancelotti, this is not good enough. The team is looking fragile in defence and is not creating enough chances. They fave a tough trip to plat Galatasaray in the Champions League. The Turkish side are well organised and have some very good players, and the stadium in Istanbul is a tough place to go, so Ancelotti will be hoping for a much better showing from his team, knowing a defeat will really increase the pressure.

However, I think that it is way too early to judge the Italian. He has been asked to create a team with a definite identity, rather than a bunch of stars. Also, there are new players and it takes time for them to settle in. Two of the biggest summer signings, Gareth Bale and Illarramendi, played for the first time on Saturday, so they will need time. The problem for Ancelotti is that Real Madrid are such a huge club and the fans have such high expectations, that you do not get long to start producing results.
