Fans disagree but Real Madrid will stick with Benzema

Whether Florentino Perez and Carlo Ancelotti are acting in order to boost the confidence of the Real Madrid number nine, or if they are just outlining their transfer policy is anybody’s guess. The upshot is the same, however, and that is that Madrid will not be in the market for another striker when the transfer window opens in January.

The fans may not be too happy to hear it, especially after his performance on Sunday earned him the vocal disapproval of the Bernabeu crowd, but the French striker is probably glad to hear that his position as the club’s first choice centre forward is not under threat, at least for now.

Ancelotti’s faith in Benzema is clear from the fact he keeps picking him in the starting line up. In fact, if he starts against Elche tomorrow, it will be the first time ever that the 25-year old will have started seven consecutive games for Madrid. Ancelotti seems unconcerned with Benzema’s form, or the fans’ reaction to it.

He said, “There is no need to speak to him. He has played some good games, and sometimes it is good that the fans whistle to keep players motivated.”

Any striker needs confidence, but Benzema is working his way back to his best and has already scored four goals this season. This and the support from his bosses should help him to really shine again. Another factor to consider is that Benzema has been used to playing with Mesut Ozil creating chances, so it might take time for him to get used to the new players Isco and Bale.
