First goal is key for Real Madrid against Man Utd

Jose Mourinho said at the end of the first leg at the Bernabeu that he was confident that Real Madrid would score against Manchester United at Old Trafford tonight. With the talent in the team and the confidence that two brilliant wins against Barcelona have produced I am sure he is right. After all Madrid have failed to score in just one of the last 12 games. The only slight advantage that United have is that they do not technically need to score.

I don’t imagine that Ferguson will send his team out to defend for 90 minutes against a free scoring side, but it does take the pressure off them a little. It means that they can be patient. We, on the other hand, have to score because of the away goal that Welbeck scored in the first leg.

Mourinho will not want his players to go all out attack, because United have speed and skill in their side as well. He will want us to get the first goal, however, because once United are forced to look for a goal, that is where we can really take advantage of our strength and their weakness.

With Di Maria and Ronaldo either side of Benzema, there is no defence on the planet that has the pace to cope with us breaking on the counter attack, and United’s defence has plenty of experience but not a lot of pace.
