Cristiano Ronaldo will be looking to inflict some damage on his former team when Real Madrid take on Manchester United on Wednesday. His former team mate who was the club captain while the Madrid striker was there, Gary Neville, has sent a warning to the United players. Ronaldo will seek out the weakest link in the United team and torment them all through the game at the Bernabeu.
“Ronaldo is a bully. He bullies the weakest defender. He does it all the time. He did it to Manchester City against Maicon. He will play on the left wing. If he can’t get on the ball he will play centre forward, right wing, midfield.”
United have been a bit susceptible at the back this season, and will not be looking forward to facing an in form Ronaldo. Their defenders have got lots of experience, but are getting towards the end of their careers and are not as quick as they used to be. Ferdinand is 34-years old and Vidic and Evra are both 31.
With Di Maria and Benzema alongside Ronaldo in the front three, Madrid have pace to burn. If United try to hold a high line, Madrid should be able to take advantage and get behind them. If they sit deep they risk the shooting power of Ronaldo, so it will be interesting to see how Alex Ferguson sets his team up. Whatever he does, he will be paying special attention to his former player CR7.
