Gareth Bale bid relies on Real Madrid selling Higuain but Arsenal will not pay €40m

The capture of Gareth Bale from Tottenham would be the cherry on top of the cake for Real Madrid, and would complete an excellent summer’s business in the transfer window. The Tottenham and Wales star will not come cheap, though. The 23-year old is likely to cost around 80 million euros, and that is too much for Madrid after their purchase of Isco, Illarramendi and Carvajal.

There is a way for Real Madrid to find that amount, apparently, but it relies on Florentino Perez being able to get 40 million euros for Gonzalo Higuain, according to El Confidencial. Premier League club Arsenal are the team most likely to sign the Argentinean striker, but I would be amazed if Arsene Wenger agrees to pay such a large transfer fee.

The French manager is well known for his financial acumen and for being a tough negotiator in transfer dealings. To be honest, 40 million is too much for the player, and I am one of his fans. The 25-year old is a great centre forward, with good technical ability, strength and speed, and he knows where the back of the net is, but for 40 million euros, Arsenal may be able to get Luis Suarez from Liverpool, and he is a level above Higuain.

The report says that Ancelotti will be happy to keep Higuain if we cannot get that much for him, but will he really, and will the player be happy that he has been forced to stay against his wishes? Reports from England suggest that Wenger may have already changed his focus to Suarez, which would leave Madrid without the option. If we take 30 million, which is fair, surely the club can find another 10 million somewhere for Bale.

  1. amitosh says:

    Carvajal – 6.5M(covers the defense hole), Isco – 34M( reinforcement CAM ), Asier- 32M( reinforcement CM/CDM)

Albiol – 12M, Callejón – 6M, Contreo on offer, so are few more, Garay – 10M from ManU sell on

So, RM should have money for Bale. This will fill their team except that we will not have a TOP striker if Higuain goes. If Bale comes, Di Maria can be sold too.
