Gotze transfer could help Real Madrid beat Dortmund

Posted on April 24, 2013 by admin

Real Madrid play the first leg or the Champions League semi-final at the Signal Iduna Park in Germany. Their opponents, Borussia Dortmund have one of the biggest football stadiums in the football world and it is usually awash with colour and noise from over 80,000 home fans. That home advantage could play a big part against the Spanish champions tonight, but it may not be quite the same following the announcement about Mario Gotze this week.

It was terrible timing, and must have been instigated by Bayern Munich rather than Dortmund, because it has blunted the excitement ans enthusiasm of the Dortmund following. 20-year old Gotze will be a Bayern player next season. The transfer was announced in the German media and has been confirmed by both clubs. He is one of their best players and is set to be one of the stars of world football in the coming years.

Maybe Gotze’s performance will be affected tonight, and it will be interesting to see how his home fans react to him. Real Madrid just need to get on with their own game, though. Having already faced the German side in the group stages this season, Jose Mourinho and his players know what they will be up against. However, Madrid are in much better form than they were back then, while Dortmund have faded in the Bundesliga and been knocked out of the cup.

After Barcelona were humiliated by Bayern last night, Madrid could set up a mouth watering final against the team they were unlucky to lose to in last year’s semi-final. Revenge will be sweet.
