Have Arsenal bid for Suarez to force Real Madrid to release Higuain?

There was a very unexpected story this weekend in the English media, and it could all be designed to convince Real Madrid to stop being stubborn and let Gonzalo Higuain complete his transfer to the English Premier League club Arsenal. The Telegraph has reported that Arsenal have made a formal bid of £30 million to Liverpool for their striker Luis Suarez.

That creates two possible problems for Real Madrid, because Luis Suarez is believed to be one of the club’s main transfer targets this summer, while Higuain is for sale and Arsenal were the favourites to sign him. Arsene Wenger is well known for being a tough and shrewd negotiator, and there is a feeling that the Suarez bid is nothing more than a ploy.

Suarez is known to want to leave England altogether, and Liverpool are known to want at least £40 million if they do agree to sell the talented forward. So Arsenal must have realised that their bid would not be accepted, but it might give Perez and Madrid cause for alarm.

The problem for Perez and Ancelotti at Madrid is that Edinson Cavani is joining PSG and Lewandowski is determined to go to Bayern Munich next year, so the list of top class strikers who might be available is dwindling fast, while teams like Chelsea are still hoping to make signings. Suarez is certainly a fantastic player and he wants to play for Real Madrid. I think he may be the best option left to us, while if we mess Arsenal and Wenger about too long then the sale of Higuain could fall through.
