Higuain agrees to join Arsenal from Real Madrid

Posted on June 21, 2013 by admin

Despite the Real Madrid president Florentino Perez trying to persuade the media last week that Gonzalo Higuain might still be playing at the Santiago Bernabeu next season, it has been an open secret for some time that the Argentinean striker would be leaving the club this summer, and now we are learning that he will be playing in the English Premier League next season with Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger apparently made Higuain his number one priority as soon as he heard that the 25-year old striker was on the market. The London club lost the league’s top scorer Robin van Persie to their rivals Manchester United last year, but their new financial power has allowed Arsenal to beat off the Italian champions Juventus in the battle for Higuain.

According to the media, personal terms have been agreed between Arsenal and Higuain, while a transfer fee of around 25 million euros will be paid to Madrid. The striker has done pretty well for us since joining in 2006, especially in the last five seasons. He has been the top scorer at Madrid twice and outshone Karim Benzema last season as Madrid regained the Spanish title, but he feels it is time to move on, so I thank him and wish him well for the future.

Great player – we’ll take good care of him!

Best of luck to Real for signing Cavani and Isco, they are very impressive.
