Gonzalo Higuain has not been scoring as many goals for Real Madrid this season, but he has had injury problems and the whole team struggled in the early part of the season. His tally of eight league goals from 16 games is still pretty respectable, and he will be hoping to get his first Champions league goal of the season tomorrow when Manchester United come to the Bernabeu.
United players seem to think it is all about Ronaldo, and have been trying to unsettle the Portuguese striker and put all the pressure on to his shoulders. Higuain, however, believes that there is more than enough quality throughout the Madrid team to be able to overcome Alex Ferguson’s men. He is expecting United to be well organised and make it a tough game, but is confident that players like himself, Ronaldo, Benzema and Ozil have the skills to punish them.
“We can do a lot of damage with individual quality and with counter attacks, although we can’t forget we need to have a solid defence, a winning mentality and team spirit.”
The Argentinean striker also called for the Bernabeu crowd to get behind the team, but I don’t think they need any encouragement on that front. The Spanish cup would be good, but only a record 10th European cup would make up for the disappointing Primera Liga campaign.
