Injury crisis threatens Real Madrid´s Champions League and WHOLE SEASON

With Real Madrid already out of the Copa Del Rey this season, Carlo Ancelotti´s chances of a trophy to give the Madrid fans something to celebrate and a real chance of keeping his job as manager. But the two pieces of silverware still available to the Italian coach are looking increasingly at risk as an injury crisis threatens to derail our hopes in the Champions League and La Liga, despite Real being favourites in most bookmakers rankings.

As reported by ESPN, Real Madrid lost two key players in Gareth Bale and Luka Modric at the weekend and they could be joined on the sidelines by Karim Benzema. The France international forward has taken a knock to his knee and is still a doubt for tomorrow´s Champions League second leg against Atletico Madrid, although Ancelotti seems confident he will be fit.

He said, “I think he will be [available] because he is improving. We have four days and the possibility of him recovering is good.”

Bale, however, is set to miss around three weeks due to a muscle problem in his leg, while Modric looks likely to miss around twice that which could see him out of action for the rest of the season. The Croatian midfielder has been a key player in getting Madrid so close to the top of the Spanish table and to this point in the Champions League, while the Wales international is always a threat, no matter how much stick he has been getting from the Bernabeu faithful.

With a trip to Celta Vigo at the weekend, Madrid face two games that could effectively end our trophy dreams for this season and we must do it with an injury crisis. Will Real Madrid and Ancelotti be able to cope?
