Isco and Ronaldo ease Real Madrid past Bilbao

It is fair to say that Real Madrid have looked far from their best so far this season, although they did manage to win the last two La Liga games. Both could have gone wrong but for some fortunate refereeing decisions, but we had plenty of bad ones last season, so you have to take the rough with the smooth.

In today’s early kick off, Athletic Bilbao came to the Santiago Bernabeu hoping to capitalise on Madrid’s slow start, but they were to be very disappointed. They came up against a much sharper looking Madrid side, with Luka Modric running things brilliantly from the middle of the pitch.

Isco showed again just why Florentino Perez and Zidane did everything in their power to persuade him to change his mind about the transfer to Manchester City. The talented young Spain international opened the scoring and later put the result in no doubt by making it 3-0 before Bilbao got a late consolation through Gomez.

The other good news for Madrid was that Ronaldo ended his mini goal drought by scoring the second with his head. Casillas watched from the bench again, as did the transfer linked Mesut Ozil, but Di Maria and Benzema played, suggesting that they will not be going anywhere during this transfer window.
