Laudrup refuses to talk about coaching Real Madrid

Michael Laudrup is the man the Real Madrid fans seem to want to take over from Jose Mourinho. The favourite with the bookmakers is Carlo Ancelotti who is coaching Paris Saint-Germain at the minute, and who has a wealth of experience, with two European cups and both the Italian and English league and cup doubles. Despite that, over 70 percent of Madrid fans voted for Laudrup in an online poll.

Despite a glittering and trophy laden career as a player, Laudrup has yet to add to his eight trophies picked up as manager of Brondby in Denmark. He could win his first cup as manager of Swansea City as they are in the final of the Capital One cup against Bradford City this Sunday. The Dane is obviously fully focused on lifting the trophy, so it is perhaps no surprise that he did not want to answer questions about his future and his chances of managing at the Bernabeu.

“This is no time to talk about the future.

“We must focus on this match. Anything else would be secondary at this point.”

Victory at Wembley Stadium would mean a first ever qualification for Europe for the club. I’m sure that Laudrup would relish the challenge, but would he be able to turn down the biggest club in the world if they asked? I doubt it.
