Mourinho aims final accusation at Real Madrid players

Posted on June 03, 2013 by admin

Never one to take even the tiniest percentage of blame onto his own shoulders, Jose Mourinho has suggested that the Real Madrid players have been at fault for any failure during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu. He did not name any names or talk about any specific incidents, but it is clear that the subtext of his statement was that the Madrid players did not do what he wanted, when he wanted it and it is their fault that he only won two major trophies in three seasons in Spain.

He said, “It’s becoming more and more difficult for a group to work as one. Values have been lost – education and professionalism are becoming worse and worse.”

He goes on to remind everyone of his previous success at various clubs, thereby trying to absolve himself from any culpability for what happened at Madrid. I would suggest to Jose that it is not very professional to ridicule one of your players in public(Pepe) for speaking about the respect that is due to Real’s hero and club captain Iker Casillas.

Neither is it a great sign of education to gouge the eye of an opposing team’s coach, or take journalists into a closed room and try to bully them into revealing their sources. It also seems a little hypocritical of him to suggest that the players have too much power at Madrid, when the team he is about to join, Chelsea, have got rid of three managers in two seasons, reportedly because of player power. The Chelsea players did not even have the decency to mention Rafa Benitez, who had just led them to a Europa League trophy and 3rd in the league, as they spoke to the fans on the final day. Classy.
