Mourinho could still be a Real Madrid hero

It was not too long ago that Jose Mourinho took his place on the sideline early, specifically to give the Real Madrid fans the chance to whistle and jeer him, so the players did bot have to face the bad atmosphere. His reputation among supporters of the Spanish champions was at it’s lowest ebb, with some calling for him to be sacked straight away rather than wait until the end of the season.

Last night Mourinho took another giant step towards turning around his reputation in the capital with a precious away victory at the home of Manchester United. Not only that, but he was gracious in victory and his team played an exemplary game of football without the niggling and aggression that we sometimes saw before. The Old Trafford crowd hardly ever let’s the away fans be heard, but you could hear chants of `Jose Mourinho, Jose Mourinho` from the Madrid fans throughout the game.

I don’t think that Mourinho will still be at the club next season, but it looks like he will leave the club with the respect of the fans and even the players if he can steer them to a cup double. He may go down in history as the Madrid manager who broke the domination of Barcelona, set the record points total in La Liga and won the historic 10th European cup. That would be pretty good.
