Mourinho has left back problem with Real Madrid

Posted on December 07, 2012 by admin

Jose Mourinho has another left back dilemma on his hands as he takes his Real Madrid side to play Valladolid tomorrow. With his preferred left back, the Brazilian Marcelo still on the sidelines after an operation, Mourinho was glad to have got Fabio Coentrao back into the team, but the Portuguese defender is now also injured, leaving the Special One a headache as he cannot afford to drop any points in La Liga.

Coentrao picked up a muscle strain during the final Champions league game against the Dutch champions Ajax, so Mourinho will either have to play the left back from the B team, Nacho Fernandez, or his makeshift utility player Michael Essien. Nacho did play in the recent Copa Del Reyes game and was impressive, so he may be given a chance. The problem is that Madrid have no room for manoeuvre, as they are already 11 points behind Barcelona. Mourinho knows what he will get from Essien and so may err on the side of caution.

With Higuain still injured, another B team player, the striker Alvaro Morata, will travel with the squad and may get another chance to prove his worth.
