Mourinho linked to England job

Posted on January 31, 2012 by admin

Jose Mourinho has always been open about his wish to manage in England again some day. With rumours rife about the Madrid boss moving on in June, everybody is wondering where he might go, England being high on the list. The job of managing the England international team is the latest possibility.

Mourinho has claimed, in an interview with “L`equipe”, that he was due to become the manager of England back in 2007, while at Chelsea, but decided that the lack of games was not for him. Would he have changed his mind in 5 years? Possibly. Will the job be available to him? We know that Fabio Capello is out of contract after this summer`s Euro 2012, and an extension is only likely following a very good England performance at the tournament. We also know that the F.A. would prefer an English manager, but the main contender, Harry Redknap is currently on trial for financial misdemeanours.

So, Mourinho would like to manage in England, but where? Not Chelsea, as him and Abramovich do not get along, not Manchester United as Ferguson is to stay on, not Manchester City as they are flying with Mancini, not Liverpool as they are happy with Dalglish and not Arsenal as they have no money to spend. The two most likely jobs would be Tottenham, if Redknapp gets the England job, or England itself?

What do you think?
