Mourinho wants to win Champions league with Real Madrid before he leaves

Posted on December 04, 2012 by admin

Jose Mourinho has been asked outright by members of the Spanish media whether he will continue to be the manager of Real Madrid after the end of this season, but the Portuguese manager deftly deflected the questions, suggesting that they should ask the man who is responsible for making the decisions, Real’s president Florentino Perez.

There is a growing feeling in football circles, however, that this season will be the last for Mourinho at the Bernabeu. The Special one has lost the backing of some of the Madrid fans, despite winning back the Primera Liga title from Barcelona last season. The Catalan side have stormed into an 11 point lead over Madrid, and last season’s record breaking exploits seem a long way away.

There have been criticisms of Mourinho’s reluctance to bring players through from the B team, which may be one of the reasons that Alonso, Ramos and Casillas will miss tonight’s final group game in Europe. Speculation on which club Jose will join is rife, especially in England where he has been linked to Manchester City and United in the past week.

One thing the club and the manager seem to agree on, though, is the need to win the Champions league this season where Madrid are second favourites in the online tote betting. Madrid are looking for an historic 10th win, while Mourinho wants to become the first manager in history to win the trophy with three different clubs. Madrid know they have a manager who knows how to deliver the top European honour and are desperate to end their wait for number 10. It will be 11 years next summer since Madrid last lifted the trophy and that is too long for a club like this.

If Mourinho can guide us to the cup, then he will always be a hero at Madrid, but he will still be leaving at the end of the season.
