No deal for Real Madrid exit says agent of Higuain

There has been a mountain of media speculation about the Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, which only increased when the Argentinean striker took it upon himself to declare that he had decided to leave. The president Florentino Perez, however, was quick to remind his player that the club had to accept an offer first and it had not received any that it felt came close to his value.

Arsenal from the English Premier League and Juventus from the Italian Serie A are the two clubs favourite to sign Higuain, and he has expressed his willingness to play for both. Both are big clubs who will be in the Champions League next season, even if they are not as big as Real Madrid.

Perez seems to be intent on trying to change quite a few of the current squad’s minds about leaving this summer, including the Portuguese international defenders Fabio Coentrao and Pepe. They are also attracting interest from various clubs, but surely it makes sense to see who the new manager will be and what he wants to do first.

Perhaps that is why Higuain’s agent, who is also his brother, has released a statement which plays down the possible departure of the 25-year old striker. He certainly seems to allow for the possibility that his brother could remain at the Bernabeu.

“Right now there is no agreement with any club,” said Nico Higuain. “For starters they would have to talk first with Real Madrid. Nothing has been closed.”

Higuain’s father has also suggested that his son feels let down by the way he was treated at the club during Mourinho’s reign. It remains to be seen whether Perez and the new manager can repair that damage.
