Real Madrid and Mourinho on brink after Dortmund disaster

Posted on April 25, 2013 by admin

If Real Madrid looked stunned at the final whistle last night, Jose Mourinho seemed to be equally bewildered in his post match press conference. The Portuguese coach was at a loss to explain how his team were so soundly beaten by Borussia Dortmund, although he has definitely not given up on overturning the result at the Bernabeu next week.

“For me it is difficult to analyze it with you, as I have to do it with the players,” Mourinho told the waiting media. “It seems more polite to say that the best team won.

“In football, nothing is impossible. And so there is hope.

“If you ask the players now they will say it is not possible, but within half an hour they will say it is, and after a day they will be convinced that we can give everything.”

Mourinho believes that he had prepared his players perfectly for the match, but for some reason they just did not perform. All credit to Dortmund, who were magnificent. The German side started like a rocket and had a deserved lead within seven minutes. Real Madrid were a little fortunate to get on level terms due to a rare mistake by the Dortmund defence. In the second half, though, Madrid were blown away and Lewandowski was on fire, scoring all four goals.

That away goal by Ronaldo may just be the lifeline that Madrid need, but we will have to be a whole lot better at home. A good start and an early goal, and anything could happen. We have the quality to do it, but all the players will need to be at their best. If it doesn’t happen, then Mourinho will definitely not be the manager next season.
