Real Madrid and Ronaldo hoping injury does not ruin chances

Cristiano Ronaldo and everyone concerned with Real Madrid must have been rubbing their hands in the last few weeks, but an injury picked up by the Portugal international star could really throw a spanner in the works for both club and player, although hopefully it will only be a short term problem.

The odds of Ronaldo winning the Ballon D’Or and of Real Madrid winning either La Liga, Copa Del Rey or the Champions League had dropped recently. That was because of the amazing performances and scoring rate of the 28-year old, as well as the longer term injury to Lionel Messi and other Barcelona players hurting the Catalonian club’s chances. For this reason, it could be a good time to get some money on Madrid or Ronaldo, before the medical results of his injury are known. The top betting websites will have a range of tempting odds for football fans.

Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that Ronaldo will not play against the Turkish champions Galatasaray tonight, which I suppose could slightly harm his chances of being the top scorer in the competition, but as long as the injury is not much worse than it seems, I doubt it will stop him. Ronaldo is already ahead, with 8 goals, of Ibrahomovic (7) and Messi(6) and the Barcelona striker is going to be out for some time, while the Swede needs his team to punch above their weight to keep him in the competition.

In La Liga, the only player close to Ronaldo is Diego Costa of Atletico Madrid, and he is three behind the 17 scored by Ronaldo. The Madrid manager has hinted that his star player should be available to play at the weekend, so with the likes of Gareth Bale, Isco and Benzema starting to click, things are looking ominous for their rivals. But while there is some uncertainty over the nature and extent of Ronaldo’s injury, there mat be some good odds to be had. Good luck!
