Real Madrid could use Kaka, Modric or Ozil for crucial Clasico against Barcelona

Jose Mourinho has got big decisions to make for his Real Madrid team that is to face Barcelona in the Nou Camp on Sunday. The Classic is one of the biggest games in world football and this one is as important as any. Mourinho and Tito Vilanova know that a victory on Sunday could swing La Liga in their favour.

Madrid are sitting eight points behind Barcelona after a poor start to the season, but they are starting to hit top form at the right time. A win away at Barcelona would reduce the gap to just five points and give the team a massive confidence boost. At the same time, a defeat would demoralise a Barcelona team who have started to struggle in recent weeks. The Catalan side have won all their league games but they have not looked convincing.

With Puyol out for two months with a dislocated elbow and Pique struggling to recover in time, Real Madrid can exploit a makeshift defence and I would not be surprised if they dropped more points in the weeks to come. Mourinho will not go out all guns blazing, however, because Barcelona have some great attacking flair and a defeat for Madrid would leave them 11 points behind the leaders.

A win for Barcelona would give them a lift at a crucial time and give them some vital breathing space in La Liga. The main decision for Mourinho is between his play making midfielders of Kaka, Modric and Ozil. Ozil has a great record against Barcelona but is not 100 percent. Modric has never experienced it but does have a cool head and great vision. Kaka put in a superb performance against Ajax and could get the nod as he is the man in form. He is physically stronger than Modric and that could tip the balance in his favour.

Mourinho is keeping his cards close to his chest, having held today’s training session behind closed doors. One thing is for sure, the team that is picked will all know that they must give everything.
