Real Madrid deny Ramos, Casillas and Mourinho Ultimatum

Posted on January 24, 2013 by admin

When the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, had a meeting in a restaurant with the captain and vice-captain of the team, he could not have expected the media furore that would ensue. The next day it was all over the Spanish papers that Iker Casillas and Sergio Ramos had issued an ultimatum to Perez that demanded the departure of Jose Mourinho from the club. If their demands were not met, alleged the stories, then the players would leave.

Perez has broken his rule about not getting involved in the day to day running of the team to issue a statement today, categorically denying the stories and stating that they have been started in an attempt to undermine the club, whether to oust him as president or Mourinho as coach.

The players also issued a statement in which they denied that anything of the sort happened and gave their full support and backing to Mourinho. They also called on everyone concerned with Real Madrid to pull together at a tough period for the club and the team.

Both may have had disagreements with Mourinho, but that is not unusual in a team, especially when there is so much pressure and the team is struggling. They all seem to be going in the right direction at the minute and there is a vital Champions league tie against Manchester United on the horizon, so the timing could not be worse.
