Real Madrid eye Jovetic as Higuain close to Arsenal transfer

Real Madrid may be the biggest club in the world, but that does not mean that Carlo Ancelotti has unlimited supplies of money to spend. The new manager is not having to scrimp and save, by any means, but he must exercise some kind of control over the spending on players.

That is the main reason why Ancelotti will not just allow Gonzalo Higuain to join Arsenal for around £20 million, which is what the Premier League club have apparently offered. Madrid want around 30 million euros, because it will cost that much to replace him with similar quality.

Club president Florentino Perez has already spoken about how Madrid always seem to have to pay top prices while struggling to receive the proper value of players when selling, and he is determined not to make it easy for other clubs.

Madrid are seriously considering signing the Montenegro forward Stevan Jovetic from Fiorentina, and the Italian club are demanding around 30 million euros for him. He is not a direct replacement for Higuain, but operates more as a support striker, which would give Ancelotti different attacking options, but he doesn’t want to let Higuain go for less than it will cost to get Jovetic, so this transfer saga looks like it will rumble on for a while.
