Real Madrid face a tough test against Malaga

Posted on March 18, 2012 by admin

Real Madrid must keep their focus tonight against 4th placed Malaga.Confidence is high in the Malaga camp after three consecutive wins against Zaragoza, Levante and Getafe.

Manuel Pellegrini, Malaga`s chilean coach, reminded the press that Malaga had a good game against the leaders in the Copa del Rey. They led Madrid 2-0 at the Bernabeu before eventually losing 3-2. “Hopefully the team will turn up and compete,” Pellegrini said, going on to praise Madrid and knowing that his team must be at their best against Mourinho`s juggernaut.

Malaga will be without their influential French midfielder, Toulalan, due to injury. Mourinho has left Coentrao out of the squad as he has not quite recovered, while Albiol is suffering from a bad case of flu. Di Maria is also on the injury list, but Real have such strenghth in their squad that they should, on current form, not be too worried.

Barcelona kept up what pressure they could by beating Sevilla last night but Guardiola has almost thrown in the towel for the league title. The next next meeting between the two sides is not until April 22nd and if the Catalan side have not closed the gap by then, even the most optimistic Barcelona fan should have accepted the inevitable.
