Real Madrid fans show their displeasure to Mourinho

Posted on November 28, 2012 by admin

Jose Mourinho chose not to face reporters at the press conference following last night’s match. Real Madrid had beaten Alcoyano 4-1 in the first leg of this Copa Del Rey encounter, and Mourinho gave some players a chance. Only Modric and Ozil from the regular first team started the game, and there was an odd atmosphere all night. It took until the 72nd minute for the substitue Di Maria to open the scoring, after which Callejon added two more, but it was not the game that caused supporters to boo Mourinho but the season so far.

There was a section of the Bernabeu crowd, the ultras, who supported the Portuguese manager and chanted his name, but they were jeered and whistled by the rest of the crowd. The same thing happened earlier in the season, and last January when the side were on a bad run. Cameras showed that Mourinho was not taking alot of notice of the crowd, but was sharing a joke with his assistant, Karanka. He must have been aware of it, however, and was probably expecting it.

With Barcelona now 11 points ahead of Madrid in the Primera Liga, it looks like Mourinho will have to relinquish the title he won in spectacular form last season with a record for points and goals scored. The team has failed to hit the same heights this season, and will only qualify second in the Champions league group. The president of the club has voiced his support for Mourinho, but things change very quickly behind the scenes at Madrid.

Mourinho may decide to walk if he continues to be jeered, and has previously stated his intention to return to England one day. With his excellent record, he will interest a number of top clubs, including Manchester City and United.
