Real Madrid may have new midfield soon

Two major changes in the midfield of Real Madrid could soon be completed. Tottenham play maker Luka Modric is due to play for Croatia in a friendly against Switzerland tonight, and his national manager Igor Stimac believes he is on the verge of becoming a Real Madrid player.

Meanwhile Silvio Berlusconi has intimated that more money from the recent sales of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva will be made available for the transfer of Kaka back to his former club AC Milan.

The two deals are connected in a way. Jose Mourinho is reluctant to release Kaka until he is sure that Modrid will be coming to the Bernabeu. Conversely, Kaka may believe he could still feature heavily for the first team if the Croatian stays in England. One thing is for sure, Modric himself is desperate to join the Special One in Madrid. He has refused to go on Tottenham’s pre-season tour and has not been training with the club.

Another Madrid midfielder, Nuri Sahin, is set to decide whether to join Liverpool or Arsenal this week. It is almost certain that he will be playing in England this season, but it is up to the Turkish international to choose a club.
