Real Madrid players reveal much happier life under Ancelotti

It remains to be seen, of course, if Real Madrid will win any trophies in their first season under Carlo Ancelotti, but it certainly seems like a much happier and more relaxed club. After the strain, tension and discord that characterised the reign of Jose Mourinho, the fans, players and media are all mightily relieved about that.

Mourinho seems to have embarked on another spell of rabble rousing back in England, getting into spiteful arguments with rival managers, players, officials and anyone who crosses his path, but Ancelotti is almost the opposite. A lot of players liked Mourinho because he was so determined to win, but it came at a price.

Dani Carvajal was released from Madrid during Mourinho’s time, but impressed after leaving and has been brilliant since returning last summer. He told the Spanish media today that the new manager had brought calmness to the dressing room and there were no more conflicts going on. It certainly seems to have helped on the pitch as well, with Real Madrid easily passing another potentially tricky test at Getafe yesterday.

Everyone is playing well and there is a real sense of togetherness. Hopefully, the president Florentino Perez will have learned his lesson and will stick with Ancelotti, even if Madrid do miss out on a trophy this season, like they should have done with Pellegrini. But the way things are looking, it won’t be an issue because we are level on points at the top of La Liga, already in the Copa Del Rey final and strong favourites to progress against Schalke in the Champions League.
