Real Madrid rumours- Casillas, Mourinho, Ancelotti

Posted on May 03, 2013 by admin

One of the main reasons Jose Mourinho was brought to Real Madrid was to win the Champions League. Having already won it with Porto and Inter Milan, Mourinho was seen as having a fantastic pedigree in the competition and so would have a great chance or winning a record 10th European cup for the club. It is now more than 10 years since Vicente Del Bosque led the Galacticos to success in 2002.

Mourinho has got Madrid to three semi-finals, but he has lost all three, to Barcelona, Chelsea and now Borussia Dortmund. This has effectively sealed his departure, although neither Mourinho nor the club have admitted it yet. There is a story in today’s AS that tells me that he is definitely going, though, and that is about Casillas.

The captain of Madrid and Spain’s relationship with Mourinho has deteriorated to such a degree that there is no way that they will both stay at the same club. Even though Casillas has recovered from his broken finger and is ratec as the best in the world, his manager will not play him. Casillas has announced that he will not be leaving the Bernabeu for next season, so that tells me that he knows Mourinho will not be there.

The Portuguese manager could not resist a dig at his captain in the press conference. Defending his record against the previous coaches of Madrid, Mourinho said his only mistake was not to get Diego Lopez, the keeper who is currently taking the place of Casillas, at the start of the season.

Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti, the coach of PSG, which is one of the clubs linked with Mourinho, has been asked about rumours linking him with the Madrid manager’s position. The Italian, who won the European cup twice as manager of AC Milan, said that he was happy where he was, but that it would be very hard to say no to Madrid.

Mourinho may have managed to halt the dominance of Barcelona with a La Liga title last season, but that, one Spanish cup and one supercup is not enough, in the eyes of the Madrid fans, for all the controversy and trouble he has brought to the club. Casillas, on the other hand, is a club legend and a hero.
