Real Madrid start pre-season with 6-0 win at Bournemouth (with video)

Real Madrid have a lot to do this season. Everyone from the club president Florentino Perez, through Carlo Ancelotti and down to the newest players and those hoping to come through the youth ranks is well aware what a big season this could be. It certainly started well.

Real Madrid travelled to England to play Bournemouth FC, a small club that has just gained promotion to the second tier of English football. A pretty much full ground was thoroughly entertained by the skills on show from La Liga, especially the mercurial Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese star got the scoring started with a trademark free kick, and it was the same man who rounded the keeper to coolly slot in the second. Sami Khedira found himself in an unusually advanced position at a corner and the German duly made it 3-0.

After the break, we saw the introduction of Gonzalo Higuain, and we still don’t know whether he will be playing at the Bernabeu next season, or where he will go if he leaves. For now though he is a Madrid player, and he reminded everyone of his ability with a well taken goal just a minute after coming on.

We want to see a lot more from Di Maria this season, and if he can continue to show the pace, power and finishing that got the 5th goal, we will be happy. The new Brazilian signing Casemiro completed the scoring to make it a very successful first game in pre-season. Good play, good goals scored, none conceded and no injuries. Ancelotti could not have asked for more. see highlights of the game below.
