Real Madrid to pay PSG €4m compensation for Ancelotti

Florentino Perez, the president of Real Madrid, is still trying to deflect the media speculation about Carlo Ancelotti becoming the new coach, suggesting that the club is considering various options. Meanwhile, the Spanish newspaper Marca, which has close connections to Real Madrid, has revealed that Ancelotti’s current club Paris Saint-Germain has agreed to accept €4 million in compensation for losing their manager with a year left to run on his contract.

Perez has clearly been determined to get Ancelotti. After the Mourinho disappointment, Madrid need to bounce back quickly, and Ancelotti is the man to do it. The club wants to move quickly and start planning and rebuilding for next season. We have already missed two big transfer targets in Neymar and Falcao, while rumours are growing about Cristiano Ronaldo possibly leaving.

The club are hoping to complete the deal within the week, then it will be up to Ancelotti to decide who to bring in as his assistants and coaching staff. Mourinho’s assistant Karanka has been given the blessing of the departing manager to remain at the Bernabeu stadium, so he may well become a part of the new manager’s team.

Ancelotti has a great record, having won the league title in Italy, England and France. His main target, however, will probably be to win the historic 10th European cup. If he does, it will be his third as a manager, after also winning it twice as a player with AC Milan.
