Real Madrid transfer news – Higuain, Kaka and Pepe

Posted on July 08, 2013 by admin

Carlo Ancelotti is trying to stamp his authority on to the Real Madrid team, and is working closely with the club president Florentino Perez in order to make sure that he has the players he wants to make that happen. Madrid have already done some good work in this summer transfer window, bringing in Isco, Illaramendi and Carvajal, but Ancelotti needs to consider the players who are already at the club as well.

Three players who were thought to be on their way out of the Bernabeu this summer were the Brazilian midfielder Kaka, the Argentinean striker Gonzalo Higuain and the Portuguese defender Pepe. There are issues to be resolved with all three of this players, for various reasons.

The one that Ancelotti really wants to keep at the club is Pepe. Manchester City are leading the race for the 30-year old, but the manager wants to persuade him not to give up on his career at Madrid. The young Rafael Varane may have edged ahead of Pepe in the pecking order, but the Portuguese is still a top class player and will be very hard to replace. He can also play as a defensive midfielder and will feature if he decides to stay.

Ancelotti has also let it be known that he would be happy to keep Higuain, although the striker has said he is leaving. Perez is said to be unhappy about the way the striker went public, and he is determined to get the full value for the player, with Arsenal seemingly unwilling to pay the full fee, this one could run for a while.

Kaka is surplus to requirements, especially with the new additions, but the problem there is getting a club who wants to take him off us. Madrid have made it clear that he will struggle to get any game time, so if he has any world cup ambitions he will need to move on, which will probably mean a significant cut in wages.
