Jose Mourinho was given a terrible time by large sections of the Real Madrid home support last night, despite the fact that his team won 4-0. His countryman and star player, Christiano Ronaldo, has asked the Madrid fans to stop the booing and jeering and get behind the manager, because it is having a detrimental effect on the whole team.
Every time Mourinho came out of his dugout at the Bernabeu last night, whether to harangue the officials or to give advice to the players, he was subjected to a barrage of abuse. Some fans tried to applaud him, but they were drowned out by the more vocal groups who were obviously unhappy at recent events.
Ronaldo has come in for similar treatment before so he knows how it feels. He is a firm favourite now, and even more so after his brilliant hat-trick, but he wants the fans to put their anger aside and support everyone at the club. He wants them to remember there is still a lot to play for this season, and he has total faith in Mourinho to get the best out of the team.
“I know him and he is a great professional. He is 8in charge and we have to respect his decisions.”
