Ronaldo Facebook statement does NOT mean he is leaving Real Madrid

Posted on June 13, 2013 by admin

There has been a lot of talk about Cristiano Ronaldo and his future at Real Madrid, pretty much since the start of last season, when the club were struggling and the players did not seem to be getting on with the manager Jose Mourinho. There was talk of dressing room rows and splits between the players, but that all seems to have died down now Mourinho has left.

When Ronaldo said that he was sad earlier in the season, we never really found out why, but the club has tried to make him happy and are obviously keen for him to sign a new contract. The rumours about bids from Monaco, PSG and Manchester United have been growing for a while now, but they were countered this week by some in the Spanish media claiming that the striker had agreed to a contract extension with Madrid.

Ronaldo wrote a statement on his Facebook page today refuting those rumours, so the media and rumour mill is going to go into overdrive now, but we should not read too much into the statement.

He wrote, “All the news about my renewal with Real Madrid are false.”

That is fairly clear then, he has not signed a new deal. But he does not say he won’t or that he is going to leave. Remember, he still has two years of his current contract to run. He has also said this season that he would see out his contract. Who knows what will happen when the new manager arrives and some new players are signed. Relax Madridistas!
