Ronaldo gets closer to leaving Real Madrid

Posted on November 16, 2012 by admin

Earlier in the season, after Christiano Ronaldo had refused to celebrate his two goals for Real Madrid against Getafe in La Liga, the story came out that Ronaldo was unhappy. He stated that the club were well aware of his feelings and there was a lot of media speculation about what the problems between club and player were.

Many thought that Ronaldo was trying to negotiate a new deal, involving his very lucrative image rights, and was concerned about the new Spanish tax laws. The player denied that it was anything to do with money, and the general feeling was that he did not feel that the club supported or protected him enough in the media. Jose Mourinho is thought to have had a long talk with Ronaldo and assured him that he was very important to the club. They also promised to do more to support his case for winning the Ballon D’Or, which his main rival, Messi, has lifted for the past three years and is favourite with all the best betting sites to win it for a record fourth time this year.

Ronaldo feels that nothing has changed. The club have not been using their media connections in the same way as Barcelona have done with Messi. He sees things like Messi and David Villa arguing, but the club plays it down and it goes away. When Ronaldo is in the papers, he feels that he is always the bad person, even when he was elbowed in the last match, the club exerted it’s efforts towards protecting Pepe rather than Ronaldo.

Ronaldo feels support from his team mates, manager and the Real Madrid fans, but not from the president and the board. If he loses out to Messi again when the Golden Boot is awarded in January, he will seriously consider moving on. All the biggest clubs across Europe will be keeping an eye on the situation closely, including his former club Manchester United and their rivals Manchester City.
