Ronaldo knows two good wins will transform Real Madrid season

Real Madrid are ready for the visit of the Italian champions in the Champions League tonight, but Cristiano Ronaldo has admitted that they do have one eye on this weekend’s La Liga game. Not surprising really, when it is the first El Clasico of the season.

The Portuguese superstar knows that a win tonight followed by a win against Barcelona in the Nou Camp on Saturday, will put a completely different slant on the season so far. Los Blancos may have stuttered and been a bit lucky in La Liga so far, but three points in El Clasico will put Madrid level on points with their fierce rivals. With a new manager and new players, as well as all the injury problems suffered by Gareth Bale, that would be seen as a very good start.

Ronaldo said, “I do not think this week will decide anything, but it is very important. We’re improving. We did not start as we wanted, but we are well and hoping to beat Juve and Barca.”

The 28-year old knows that a win tonight would almost guarantee that Madrid would win what looked like a tough group. It would put us on nine points, with Juve back on just two. A draw between Galatasaray and Copenhagen would leave both of those clubs on two as well and Madrid would need just one more win to top the group.

A draw tonight would be okay, but a win would also be great preparation for facing Barcelona.
