Ronaldo told to forget Man United and focus on Real Madrid

There has been lots of speculation in the media about Real Madrid and whether the club would be able to hold on to Cristiano Ronaldo this summer. With just two years left on his current contract, and no sign of the Portuguese international agreeing to sign an extension, the transfer rumours have been coming thick and fast.

The new Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has made his position perfectly clear to Ronaldo, apparently, after telling the 28-year old to buckle down and focus on his football in Spain, because he is not going to countenance any transfer, whether to Manchester United or anywhere else.

Whether United would pay the money, or whether Ronaldo would like to return to his former club, is completely irrelevant to Ancelotti, because the Italian wants him at the Bernabeu and the club will not be forced into any transfers they do not want to happen.

Following the departure of Mourinho, I expect there will be a much happier dressing room at Madrid from now on, and hopefully that will convince Ronaldo to finally sign the new deal that the club wants him to. For this season, at least, he will play in the white of Madrid and will have a huge say in who wins La Liga and what chance Madrid have of winning a record 10th European cup.
